Privacy Policy

Tick Talk helps people understand local tick activity and share reports about sightings, bites, symptoms, pets, and related outdoor conditions. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

We may collect account information such as your email address when you sign in, request updates, or contact us. If you submit a report, we may collect report details such as report type, approximate location, date, notes, photos you choose to upload, and related context.

If you allow location access, Tick Talk may use your device location to show nearby map activity, risk context, and local summaries. You can disable location access in your device settings. Reports may be stored with location information so they can appear on maps and support community risk awareness.

How We Use Information

We use information to operate the app, show local tick activity, process user reports, improve safety and reliability, respond to support requests, and maintain aggregated risk summaries. We may also use de-identified or aggregated information to understand trends and improve the service.

Public And Community Information

Reports submitted to Tick Talk may be visible to other users in map, list, summary, or detail views. We avoid displaying your email address publicly, but report content, approximate location, time, category, and photos you upload may be visible depending on app features and settings.

Service Providers

We may use third-party providers for hosting, authentication, storage, analytics, email delivery, crash reporting, maps, weather context, geocoding, and public data imports. These providers process information on our behalf so the app can function.

Health And Safety Content

Tick Talk may include educational information about tick-borne illnesses and prevention. The app is not a medical provider and does not diagnose, treat, or replace professional medical advice. If you have symptoms, a concerning bite, or a medical emergency, contact a qualified clinician or emergency services.

Data Retention

We keep information as long as needed to provide the service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, improve safety, and maintain community reports. You may contact us to request deletion of your account or certain personal information, subject to legal, safety, backup, and integrity requirements.

Your Choices

You can control device permissions such as location and photo access through your device settings. You can choose what you submit in reports. You can contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of personal information where applicable.

Children

Tick Talk is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and take appropriate action.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date and may provide additional notice where appropriate.
